Lena Philipsson, one of them Sweden most successful musical artist, will take on her first leading drama role in the Viaplay original “The Street Where I Live”. Since their debut in 1984, Philipsson has had no fewer than 13 albums and charts in the country’s top 20 Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. Inspired by her hit single of the same name, ‘The Street Where I Live’ was created and written by her Viaplay Studios Mikael Newihl (The Viaplay Original “Max Anger”, nominated for Best European Drama at the Festival de la Fiction TV 2021 in La Rochelle).
In the six-part series, Lena Philipsson plays Nina, who begins a new relationship four years after the death of her husband. Nina’s decision leads to dramatic and unexpected reactions from both her family and neighbors. The Street Where I Live will begin filming this fall and will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in 2023.
Lena Philipsson: “It is incredibly exciting to enter this world together with her Viaplay. I especially like the tone of the series and what it has to say. It’s about not being afraid of change and daring to let go, even if it hurts. It’s a show I want to see for myself.”
Filippa Wallestam, viaplay group Chief Content Officer: “A song is an unusual basis for a scripted series, but Lena’s hugely popular single from 2005 combines excitement, affection and longing” hit the right notes for viewers around the world Sweden and beyond. We are particularly proud of that Viaplay handles every aspect of this show – from script and production to worldwide sales.”
